For anyone who looks after the board. No computer knowledge needed. You can print this page.
Opening the admin page
On a phone: connect to the building's Wi-Fi, then open the address written on the board PC's installer
screen (it looks like http://10.0.0.100:8080/admin). Save it as a bookmark.
On the board PC itself: double-click Zmanim Board Admin on the desktop.
Type the PIN. After a few wrong tries the page makes you wait before trying again (longer each time).
Everyone's PIN is shown to admins in ⚙ Settings → General (a PIN set before this was added shows once it's changed).
Signed in now there lists who is using the admin or office page; Sign out makes them type their PIN again.
From home or anywhere: an admin turns it on in ⚙ Settings → General → 🌍 Remote access (one tick for the
admin page, one for the office page). The card then shows the addresses with a Copy button: send the
secretary the office page address (it ends in /office) and their office PIN, separately.
Anyone with the address can reach the PIN screen, so don't use easy PINs. If too many wrong PINs are tried from
outside in one day, sign-in from outside pauses by itself (it still works on the Wi-Fi here); an admin taps
Resume on the same card.
Allowed countries: on the same card. Only visitors from these countries (USA and Israel to start with)
can open the pages from outside. Add the country before you travel, or you'll be turned away yourself.
Someone using a VPN can get around it, so it doesn't replace a good PIN. 👀 Visitors from outside (just
below) shows who opened the pages from the internet in the last 2 weeks: country, address, and what happened.
Passkeys (fingerprint or face instead of the PIN): open the board's https address (the remote-access
address above), sign in, then ⚙ Settings → General → 🔑 Passkeys → Add a passkey on this device (the
secretary taps 🔑 Use a passkey next time at the bottom of the office page). Next time tap
Sign in with a passkey. A passkey can't be guessed, so wrong-PIN lockouts never stop it. It only works on
the https address; the PIN still works everywhere. Lost or replaced a phone? Remove its passkey on the same card.
Forgot it? Tap Forgot PIN? and type the email you're listed with under People: a code is emailed to you. (The main admin leaves the email empty; their code goes to the board's problem-report address.) Type the code and a new PIN (4 digits or more). The office page has the same button.
Changing a text box (Shiurim, Updates, Shabbos, Daily Schedule…)
On a computer, tap the box on the picture of the board. On a phone, scroll to it.
Type the text, one item per line. A time at the start or end of a line (Mincha 1:45) lines up by itself.
Optional Show from / Until dates: the box only shows between them.
Press Save. The board changes within a few seconds.
Don't need a box? Press Remove this box on it (or ✕ Remove next to the hidden boxes under the board).
Add a box can put it back.
Posters and flyers
Tap a poster spot, then Add and pick a picture, PDF, Word or PowerPoint file.
Several posters in one spot take turns.
The board has two poster spots, left and right. To show one big poster instead, tick One big poster across
both spots at the top of the Posters card and add the poster under it. Untick it to go back to two spots.
Use Ends: Today / Tomorrow / Shabbos (or a date and Stop at time) so old flyers come down by themselves.
Remove a poster with the ✕ on its corner.
Flyers by email
Allowed people email the board's Gmail: who is speaking, the topic, the day and time (and a photo if there is one).
A minute or two later a picture of the flyer comes back. Reply YES to put it up, NO to cancel, or
write what to change ("make the name bigger", "it's at 9pm").
The flyer comes down by itself after the shiur.
Look, layout and settings
⚙ Settings has tabs: Look & colors, Layout, Location & zmanim, Banners, Add a box, and more.
On a computer you can drag boxes to move them and drag their edges to resize them.
⭐ Saved layouts keeps a whole look under a name, to switch back to it later (for example a Yom Tov look).
Made a mistake?
Press ↶ Undo at the top of the admin page (or Ctrl+Z on a computer) to undo the last change. Press it
again to go back one more change. It says what it undid.
⚙ Settings → ↩ Undo & history lists every change: when, from where, and what. Press Undo next to
a change to put the board back the way it was just before it. Deleted pictures come back too.
⚙ Settings → 💾 Backups puts back the whole board as it was on an earlier day (the last two weeks).
A copy is also kept in the board Gmail's Google Drive, in the folder Zmanim Board backups.
Troubleshooting: if something goes wrong
The screen is black or shows an error: wait two minutes; the board restarts itself. If not, email
board restart (see the last tip) or restart the PC.
The board opens by itself when the PC starts.
The PC shows the desktop instead of the board: double-click Zmanim Board on the desktop.
The board isn't full screen: click on it and press F11.
After a power cut the board didn't come back: the PC must switch itself on when power returns (a BIOS
setting) and sign in to Windows by itself (Windows+R, netplwiz). See the handover guide.
The clock or zmanim look wrong: check the PC's clock is set automatically and its time zone is
Jerusalem, then ⚙ Settings → Location & zmanim.
An old poster won't go away, or a new one doesn't show: check its Show from / Until dates.
A flyer set to "show alone", or a big poster across both spots, hides the others while it's up.
The left and right posters are gone and there's one big spot:One big poster across both spots is
ticked in the Posters card; untick it. (A big flyer made by email still covers both spots until its time is up.)
The phone can't open the admin page: make sure the phone is on the building's Wi-Fi (not mobile data) and the board PC is on.
Forgot the PIN or "too many wrong PINs": tap Forgot PIN? on the PIN screen. A forgotten shared office PIN is
changed in ⚙ Settings → General.
An emailed flyer didn't come back: is the sender on the list in ✉ Flyers by email, and is it not
Shabbos? That tab's status line says what's wrong (for example the AI account needs credit, or the internet filter
is blocking the Google script). Emails that couldn't be read wait in the board's Gmail and go through by
themselves once the problem is fixed.
An update didn't install:⚙ Settings → 🔄 Updates shows the version and any error. Updates install at 3 at night.
Check on the board from anywhere: email the board's Gmail with the subject board status,
board screenshot, board restart, board update, board log or
board help, from a problem-report address. (⚙ Settings → 🩺 Problems) This works only while
Flyers by email is on, and not on Shabbos.
If problem reports are turned on (⚙ Settings → 🩺 Problems), the addresses there get an
email by themselves when the board has a problem or goes off.
Anything else, or you want something to work differently: see HANDOVER.md in the board's program
folder (accounts, more fixes, and how to get changes made with Claude Code).
